Since the initial adoption of the Policy Manual in 1994, it has been standard practice that new policies, policy updates, and policy deletions have been presented to City Council for approval and/or adoption. These periodic updates are needed due to the adoption of new or revised Municipal Codes, Resolutions and Ordinances, and changes to operational procedures.
The following are brief explanations for the updates and additions as applicable.
- Section 7.3 - Uniform Policy: Clarifies requirements of City provided uniforms, including non-field staff that wear uniforms, and to add a process for keeping track of uniforms disbursed. The policy also adds clear directions on maintaining a clean, neat, and professional image; and provides information on destruction of returned City uniforms.
- Section 7.4 - Nepotism: Revises the definition of ‘relative’ to include a registered domestic partner. No other significant changes to content.
- Section 11.2 - Tuition Reimbursement: Gives Human Resources (HR) responsibility for tracking and approving tuition requests. Also, designates HR as the final approver for the reimbursement process.
